I’ve found MyColumn indispensable to wrestling my first draft into shape. You can get it from the Literature and Latte web site. It’s a free bit of simplicity based on Tofu but with the ability to edit.
It’s totally minimal—files are natively saved in an rftd folder. No automatic saving (Ever/Forever Save is good for this if you must). Nothing you can actually do but write and, more important, read. In multiple columns, complete user-controlled with the most basic mouse and keyboard palette.
The fact that it can show columns of your writing on the screen at once is valuable for seeing the big picture and making quick cuts to a very rough first draft.
(thx Laurence Vittes)
This does look pretty interesting. Also, because it is from the folks that do Scrivener you know it is quality.
