I have been utilizing this setup since my first discovery of Minimal Mac several weeks ago. I keep the dock hidden because I find that it is quite distracting. Instead of using the dock, I make heavy use of LaunchBar. I also rely on Growl for notifications and reminders. Additionally, I mapped two of the buttons on my Logitech MX Revolution to hide and close windows as to keep my view free of clutter.
