I’m not quite sure what it is about this classic setup that I am drawn to. Perhaps it is the idea that, back in the day, you could get a lot done with this relatively simple setup.
In fact, for at least 3 years my Newton Messagepad was my main computer. I had a Performa 550 for a desktop machine but it acted mainly as a hub for my Newton. I used it for everything from surfing the web to email to writing articles for magazines.
All of this is to say that most people do not need as much as they think they do. Even I am guilty of only using a fraction of the computing power at my disposal 99% of the time. More often than not, even a setup this old would be enough.
